It's All About Controlling the Process

The DAN polishing and buffing units are the key to DAN’s automated machines as they are the most controllable units in terms of the pressure and sensitivity controls. The patented DAN units used in DAN's machines pro-actively manage the speed and working pressures on the part being worked.

In the DAN robot cells the robot makes the same path for every like piece regardless of part tolerance variations and abrasive consumption. This means that the programmation becomes much less tedious than other systems as "perfect" movements are no longer required and the result is that the DAN machines will be able to do the job very consistently in terms of both material removal and finish quality. In addition the machines will require less electricity and consume less abrasives making the operation more cost effective and more environmentally friendly.

At the operator level regarding the control of the DAN units, it should be noted that an operator may adjust the actual pressures during the operation from outside cell on the DAN controller. This gives him the ability to control the quality of the operation from day to day without having to edit the robot programs, something that is quite important in a real production environment. It is not the case that manual polishers need to be replaced by teams of engineers.

Another element in our units is the abrasive life management. This is a system where you may program belts to behave in one way when new and then to act differently at different steps of their useful life. In this way you may keep the quality consistent and also save significantly on abrasives over time.

DAN has been building these robotic systems with essentially same concept of pressure controls for well over 20 years and these type of DAN units now have millions of hours of operation to prove that this technology stands the test of time in real production environments.

Support Policies

First of all DAN does NOT ship machines until they are approved already successfully doing the job in the DAN factory. This is to insure for both parties that there is no chance that the machine will be delivered and not be able to do the job at the customer's location.

The standard warranty period for the machines is one year, but it must be noted that DAN will support their customers for the life of the machines that is normally many tens of thousands of hours of operation. This dedicated technical support is free for the life of the machine unless technician travel (extremely rare) or parts are required.

Regarding the components and spare parts, almost everything in the cells are ISO standard off the shelf type components that our customers may
buy locally and even with different brand names (so long as there is compatibility). DAN will even assist customers in finding the parts from us or from their own local supplier. Customers do not have to come to DAN for the majority of potential spare parts.

What's More Important: Productivity or Cost Per Piece?

The main idea about the way DAN designs cells is ALWAYS focused on providing our customers the best flexibility and the lowest possible cost per part to make the required production volumes.

It is often the case that productivity is the main consideration, especially in high volume situations, but it must be clear that productivity is only one part of the more important measurement that is COST PER PIECE. This cost must include all investment costs as well as all operational costs.

When all the real elements are included then and only then may one arrive to know what the cost per piece will be.
